The May 2022 EAKC All Breed Championship Show
Held on 14-15 May 2022 at the EAKC Weld Dixon Showground
A fantastic show with great attendance, 220 dogs entered across 23 breeds. A strict but fair judge who managed to get us all seen within the 2 days and such luck with the weather! It could have been sticky with our black-cotton soil.

The 168th EAKC Championship Dog Show was held on 10-11 October 2020 despite all the complications raised by the ongoing COVID pandemic, a real community effort was made to make it work. A huge thank you has to go out to Micheal Forte (IE) who helped us last minute, find a new judge when the scheduled one was unable to travel.
The Show was held at the New EAKC Showground – The Weld Dixon Showground which was a stunning and pleasant venue, allowing us to spread people to a safe social distance while hosting over 200 dogs! The last minute judge was Donne Lucas from South Africa who braved international travel and cut her holiday short to come to our rescue.
It was very hot at the show as the rains were brewing, but missed us by a whisker, allowing us to finish the show without any cars getting stuck.
There were many beautiful exhibits at the show, with the Best in Show going to Mr. S. Kabuga’s beautiful imported Rottweiler Gimli Spartan Arena (SERB), Reserve Best in Show to B. Davis’ Labrador Dual Ch. Ontulele Merely Amonarch and Third Best in Show to Mr. M. N. Butt’s German Shepherd Dog Ch. Rusko of Huhnegrab.
It was decided to keep the EAKC Trophies at the EAKC from now on as they are such an important part of our history, holding names of winners going as far back as 1919. So, while it may leave some mantelpieces without their prized display, we will be proudly displaying the cups at the EAKC Office for many more years to come. Please click here for the critique.
The EAKC Championship show was held on 12 and 13 October 2019 The judge for this show was going to be Carla Molinari from Portugal, however for personal reasons she was unable to make it, so she arranged a replacement judge for us. Luis Catalan, also from Portugal, was able to fit us in to his judging schedule at short notice.
The Born in Lisbon in 1955, Luis Catalan has been involved with English and American Cocker Spaniels, Basset Hound, Dobermann and Whippet. He is currently the Vice-President of the Board of Clube Português de Canicultura (CPC), President of the CPC Show Committee, Member and Vice President of the FCI Show Committee and President of the Portuguese Spaniel Club.
While we suffered some rain at the show, it was well attended and most of the dogs showed themselves to be weather resistant (while the officials box was anything but). A big well done to all those who competed.
Best in Show went to Biddy Davis’ Labrador Retriever Champion Ontulele Merely Amonarch (also Best Countrybred), while Reserve Best in Show went to Arvinder Ghautura’s Imported German Shepherd Dog Asja von Haus Milmar (SERB) and Third Best in Show went to Regula Wacker’s Wildfire Diva aka Skye.

2019 10 EAKC Critique - Luis Catalan - 167thThe EAKC Centenary Show was heldon 11 and 12 May 2019. Judged by Stuart Mallard (UK).
Here are his comments:
It was such a pleasure to be invited back, and a great honour to have the privilege of judging your Centenary Show. I wish to thank the officers and the committee for inviting me while at the same time congratulating them for such a well organised event. A lovely atmosphere prevailed throughout the weekend, thank you all for your sportsmanship. An excellent entry of dogs were exhibited and temperaments were of the highest order, the standard of handling was first rate in all but a very few instances.
The general standard of GSD’s was decent for breed type and condition. Not too many exaggerated toplines, although weak hocks still need working on. The best would hold their ground in any country.
Labradors were also impressive, with many worthy examples of the breed on show. In some countries the show type and working type are fields apart; not so here, which is how it should be. However their skills are honed they conform to one breed standard.
It was lovely to witness everyone working together, and the mutual encouragement.
Junior handlers – These young people are the future and in my opinion they are an investment and time well spent.
Best wishes for the future, and above all, enjoy your dogs and this wonderful hobby we all share.
Stuart Mallard

The 165th EAKC Championship Dog Show
Judged by Patsy Hollings (UK)
13 and 14 October 2018 saw the 165th EAKC Championship Dog show! It was a super event, once again blessed with rain as the show ended!
Finally I have completed the critique. My apologies for the delay. Sometimes the club’s management keeps me away from the much awaited critique. Please click here todownload the critique.
The sponsors, Top Dog, Bounty Water, Petstore Kenya, Bravo, Josera, Royal Canin, Inqaba Biotec, Bravecto and Petworld offering super offers, spectators and competitors having a great time.
250 dogs in 25 different breeds competed for the title of Best in Show and 21 Dogs tried their skill at the Obedience test though only a few passed.
Its interesting that I hear so many trainers talk of their work throughout the year, demanding differently named tests, but few step up to the plate! I hope more of you will be ready for the tests in 2019!
During the day there were practice sessions for Junior Handling and a total of 32 kids competed in Junior Handling.
Our judge, Patsy Hollings had a great time. She was impressed at the improvement in our dogs over the last 10 years, and commended the quality as being able to compete on the international stage.
Amazingly, the rain held off until the show had finished on Sunday, only a few big splashes cooling the Best in Show line ups.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and Thank you for making the show the success it was!
A special congratulations must go to:
- BEST IN SHOW Biddy Davis’ Country bred Labrador Retriever Champion Merely Amonarch
- RESERVE BEST IN SHOW Nadeem Butt’s German Shepherd Dog Champion Rusko vom Hühnegrab of Doeland (D)
- THIRD BEST IN SHOW Adil & Debrah Butt’s Beagle Cherive Sylvester (ZA)

We had a wonderful time at the show, despite the seemingly endless rain, we managed 2 whole dry days, and only when the judge uttered his final words did the heavens open! By then we were all squared away and enjoying a chat.
The finals were a tense moment with so many beautiful puppies, veterans and Best of Breeds lining up to see which the judge would give the ultimate award to.
Best in Show went to Mr. Adil Butt’s gorgeous Beagle Male, Cherive Sylvester(ZA) followed by Mr. Nadeem Butt’s GSD Male, Rusko vom Huhnegrab of Doeland (D) with Third best in show going to the gorgeous country bred Labrador Retriever Ch. Ontulele Merely Amonarch.

EAST AFRICA KENNEL CLUB’S 163rd CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW

Judged by Leni Finne from Finland!
The 163rd EAKC Championship Dog Show, judged by Leni Finne (FIN) sponsored by Top Dog and Bounty Water was a great success! The judge arrived safely on Wednesday night but Saturday morning started badly as it poured with rain while I drove to the showground. However, as I turned off Ngong road and onto Kibera Drive the rain stopped! PHEW!
At the showground a bit of bad news awaited us, as quite many dogs had to be withdrawn from competition as they had gone down with Kennel Cough. (No coughs were heard at the show).
It was all better from then on. Judging went well with the judge being strict, but fair. Commenting that despite our GSDs not being as fit as they would be in other countries, they moved very well, or even better than elsewhere in the world! This can be attributed to good breeding and a successful Hip Dysplasia scheme. GOOD JOB GSD BREEDERS!
The Best in Show for the THIRD show in a row was Michael Omondi’s GSD Champion Kilele Wendi, a country bred(local) GSD Bitch, bred by Dr. I. Luvai out of Kilele Kimon and Kilele Hot Favourite!
On Sunday we had a heart stopping moment when a report came in that 2 Rottweilers were being stoned to death on Ngong road. However, this too had a happy ending as they showed up with some injuries, but 2 dogs no worse for wear (excellent temperament), one of them even went on to win the Rottweiler Bitch CC.
We were very pleased to have so many new faces at the show! Ms Mazibuko with her gorgeous Bulldog, Ms Shiraz’s gorgeous Maverick, a Standard Poodle puppy imported from Belgium, bred by Keith Mullan (who used to show the mom here).
Ridgeback Dog CC winner, Limpopo Tide of Mr. Zavala, Ms Kaur with the gorgeous Tavetan Nani (GSD Dog RCC) and many more!
We were very grateful to have Josera, Bravo (by Sigma), Royal Canin and Harley’s Limited support our show by having a stand and to Mumbi Muli for doing such a fantastic job with the catering! The food was YUMMY!
As I was feeling lazy, I only took around 3000 photos at this show. They are all online, in small version, so as not to crash the site! Please feel free to look through them all, click on an individual photo to get the title, and send me an email ([email protected]) if you wish to have a copy, just tell me the exact names of those photos you want, as you can imagine it’s quite a job to sort them all. Click here to see them.
