INTER-BREEDING LONG COAT – SHORT COAT REGISTRATIONS AND OTHERS

Due to changes in Government laws, the GSDL name was changed from East Africa German Shepherd Dog League to German Shepherd Dog Club of East Africa (GSDCEA).

Following a meeting by the German Shepherd Dog Club of East Africa as well as the Breed Council, held on 17th September 2020, kindly find the GSDC of EA decisions which will be implemented by the East Africa Kennel Club as minuted and approved during the Council meeting held 11 November 2020.

1.       Following the directive given by the WUSV – breeding of Long Coat to Short Coat dogs is prohibited as they are classified as separate breeds. In this regard, No Registration of Long & Short Coat offspring will be accepted. This takes effect from 31st January 2021.

2.       Registration of the German Shepherd dog(s) / litter(s) will be charged an additional 1,000/- if the owner/breeder is not a member of the GSDCEA. This takes effect from 1st January 2021.

To become a member of the GSDCEA please download their application form (click here) and forward your payment to MPesa Paybill 329329 for account 01 02 04 11 11 900 (no spaces). You can then include your GSDCEA Membership number with your application.

We look forward to your thorough compliance with these new regulations.

If you own a German Shepherd Dog Long Coat which does not have an “L” affixed to the end of their registration number, please contact the EAKC Office urgently with details (Current photo of the dog/registration details) to rectify this.

On the other hand, if you own a Short Coat registered with an “L” on their registration certificate, this too needs to be reported and rectified.

If you are not sure what coat type your GSD has, please send us an email and we’ll be glad to help define it.
