Judge Christina Chapman from the UK was wonderfully informative, she has an amazing amount of knowledge on the background and rational behind the different types of dogs. We had 23 different breeds represented including three pugs, a Shiba Inu and Saint Bernards.
The show was superbly attended with near 200 spectators coming in over the 2 days and no security problems thanks to the efforts of our Securex and SGS Guards.
The Adam’s family reigned victorious up at this show with their Boxer, Ch. Contessa Poqueta winning Best of Breed, Best of Working Group and Best in Show.
Reserve Best in Show went to Mr. Grant for his Bull Terrier Locoville Basket Case (GB) who also took home, Best of Terrier Group, Best of Breed and Best Conditioned Dog.
Third Best in show went to Mr. Mullan’s Standard Poodle Ch. Signature on File with Afterglow (GB) who also took home Best of Breed and Best of Utility Group.
Junior Handling was also superbly attended meaning classes had to be split! Shadrack Adams won the 12-18yr category and Isa Yoder-Maina winning the 8-12yr category as well as the overall Best Junior Handler for the Show. Mumbi Muli also chipped in with a stand selling her dangerously delicious cakes (Homemade by Mumbi) to help raise funds to send our qualifying Junior Handler to Crufts for the World Championship Junior Handling.
Best Puppy in Show was won by Mrs. May’s Ontulele Nosey Parker. Best Veteran went to the Adams’ Boxer Sabeeka Anazaka with Best Brace and Best Team going to B. E. Davis’ Labradors, the Team being a wonder to watch as Joshua controlled 13 Labradors at once.
At the end of the show the judge made a short speech in which she praised the EAKC committee for the great organization and the exhibitors for their excellent showmanship. Mrs. Chapman also remarked that some of our dogs would easily stand their ground in English shows.
We hope everyone, including our vendors, Josera, Rockbern Coffee, Autofibre, and Very Impawtant Pets Spa who did a stunning job grooming the Poodles, being complemented by the judge for their excellent work.
A big thank you must go out to the whole EAKC committee for their boundless dedication to the running of such a wonderful show and congratulations to all the exhibitors for their fantastic turn out.
