2015 has been a busy and very successful year for the EAKC. We are very happy to have welcomed lots of new members with a few “new” breeds being brought in, such as the gorgeous Pug, Butter and at the other end of the spectrum Honey the beautiful Alaskan Malamute. We have welcomed 5 international judges who have all thoroughly enjoyed our hospitality and our country.
Sue has been very busy, registering around 800 new puppies / imported dogs this year!
The EAKC office is slowly becoming more computerised and as we copy our archives onto the computer it becomes easier to look back and check pedigrees. It has been great fun to dig through the archives, for instance to see the first Rottweiler registered in Kenya in 1938; Anni van Remstal.
The new website came online in June and has really increased our digital presence. it is even possible to enter dogs into the shows online.
Microchipping is becoming more widely appreciated with the East African Microchip Database more than doubling in size this year.
The Shows this year have been wonderful, starting in February with a Valentines Day Ladies Kennel Association show judged by Hans Gruttner, sponsored by Royal Canin. The EAKC held it’s two annual shows, the first in May, judged by Espen Engh from Norway and sponsored by Very Impawtant Pets Spa, where the Rees’ beautiful Ridgeback Muringa Sabaki of Mukuini completely stole the show and next, the 159th EAKC Championship dog show in October. Judged by Rafael Malo Alcrudo from Spain and sponsored by Royal Canin, TRM (Josera).
Deepa Galot’s Saint Bernard Wizard of Oz Dogwatcher Paradisse (NL) won best in show.
Both the May and October Show looked like they might be wet affairs, but ended up having the most perfect weather we could have wished for.
